Staying in Argostoli you have all the perks of a city, like shopping and dining options by the dozen. However, you also need to get out of town for beaches and most sights. That is why we always recommend a car (or a scooter at least). A car is always recommended and considered essential for Kefalonia. You would be missing so much if you don’t explore our islands many amazing parts. Further bellow we list just a handful of suggestions for places to visit. And staying in Argostoli brings you to the center of it all and gives you the best access for exploration.

- 7’ walk to seafront and De Bosset Bridge area
- 9’ walk to a Bank/ATM
- 10’ to Agora/Argostoli Market – a part of the downtown seafront area with numerous grocery stores, bakeries, butcher and dairy shops etc. and some restaurant and cafés too)
- 10’ to Lithostroto St. – a pedestrian street about a mile long where lies the main commercial activity of the city. The place to go for all your general shopping: clothing, jewelry, souvenirs and much more.

- 15’ walk to Valianou Square (many restaurants, cafés and bars)
- 20’ walk to the pier for the ferry to Lixouri
- 2’ walk to Kefalonia General Hospital
